U.S. tanks and other WWII-era armored fighting vehicles are among the most popular subjects for scale modelers. In Modeling US Armor of World War 2, renowned modeler Steven J. Zaloga presents the definitive guide to modeling these famous fighting vehicles.
Based around four building projects, this guide presents techniques for getting a great finish on a model, including super-detailing, correcting a flawed kit, building a resin model, scratch building and painting and markings. Filled with step-by-step instructions—and enhanced by numerous photographs specially shot from Zaloga's personal collection of U.S. WWII armor—this volume looks at these legendary vehicles with a modeler's eye to help you obtain amazingly realistic results.

The name Steve Zaloga on a book has meant a high level of quality for over two decades. What is less well known is that in addition to his non-fiction writing on military subjects, he is also a skilled and talented armor modeler as well. This volume is a great ready reference for vehicle modelers of pretty much all skill levels past raw entry level. Zaloga assumes that you've built a model or two and have made your first few mistakes. He then devotes the entireity of the text to demonstrateing how simple the skills for producing convincing and attractive vehicle and figure models are with a bit of practice. Regardless of you abilities, this is a magnificent instructional manual and guide book that will be consulted over and over by modelers regardless of skill level.

The book is well illustrated. It covers almost everything you would need to model U.S. armor. The description of the O.D. color veriations and time frame would be handy for a vehicle restoration as well as a modeler. The O.D. color on my tank in Germany in 1963 was darker, probably some black added. I feel this book is well worth the price.
