The world’s foremost expert on counterinsurgency and guerrilla warfare—and advisor to General David Petraeus in Iraq—David Kilcullen has dramatically influenced America’s decision to rethink its military strategy in Iraq. In The Accidental Guerrilla, he provides a remarkably fresh perspective on the War on Terror.
Kilcullen looks at war as it’s actually fought, drawing distinctions between local insurgencies and a broader pan-Islamic campaign—and warns that the U.S. needs to do the same to win the War on Terror. Colored with gripping battlefield experiences that range from Southeast Asia to the Afghan-Pakistani border to the Middle East, The Accidental Guerrilla is a startling book that will change the way we think about war.

A very interesting book that explains with great clarity
the complicated insurgencies of Iraq and Afganistan. That many of the fighters fight to preserve their culture , families , "their space ". As opposed to the extremists who utilize the locals .
I have added this fine book to my library .
