So you've been waiting for the third volume of W. E. B. Griffin’s exciting new Presidential Agent series? Well, the wait is over! Following up on Griffin’s bestselling By Order of the President and The Hostage, this magnificent new novel brings back Delta Force Major Charley Castillo and his unique talent for sniffing out (and snuffing out) America's most malicious enemies.
The Hunters picks up right where The Hostage left off. Two brutal murders and millions of missing dollars in the growing UN/Iraq oil-for-food scandal have lead Castillo and his team to an estancia in Uruguay, where, to Castillo’s shock, the man they are seeking is himself murdered right before their eyes. Who is responsible? Most likely, the people higher up in the money chain, those willing to risk anything to keep their secrets from being revealed. They’ve left just enough of a trail, though, for Castillo to pick up the scent and, with carte blanche from the president, to follow it wherever it takes him—which turns out to be the last place where Castillo, his team and we readers expected . . .
Brimming with rich characters, powerful action scenes and cutting-edge drama, this is W.E.B. Griffin at his absolute best! Fiction. 515 pages.

How many times do we need to read Charley explaining his mission to almost every character he encounters?? The first book of the series was not too bad. This one is almost too boring to keep reading. More action, less explaining would have been nice.

One expects more actual action in Griffith's books. Also, every military man in this book is a saint and a perfect soldier and that stretches the credulity a bit, as anyone who has actually served in any military can tell you. But it is realistic and a well done piece of writing.

It started out good, but got boring, more like a travel guide.

I enjoyed the first book in this series. The second one was obviously set up to lead to this sequel. It read more like a mystery novel than an action novel, but that was ok. However, I am very disappointed with this, the third book. It goes nowhere, the characters have beome increasingly shallow, and the basic premise of the first book has been lost. If there is another book in this series, I might check it out from the library to see if Mr. Griffin can undo the train wreck he seems to have created, and get back on track. However, I'm not interested in buying.
