This book is as “no-nonsense” as it gets. The author, Erik Lawrence, has 15 years' special operations experience and runs Blackheart International, one of the world's top security training businesses. He doesn't have time for nonsense. In Tactical Pistol Shooting, Lawrence takes nothing for granted. He begins your training program with the basics, namely the “Combat Triad”—the gun-fighting doctrine designed to help you identify, assess and respond to life-threatening situations. He then takes you through the techniques of effective fighting, including shooting position, reloading techniques, shooting while wounded, low-light shooting and much more. “This book is about how to use your pistol to save your life, not fancy weapons handling,” Lawrence writes. If you have serious plans to improve your handgun skills, read this book. Then practice, practice, practice. B/W photos throughout. 216 pages. A professional firearms trainer helps you: • Determine your “dominant eye” • Control your breathing • Perfect the draw sequence • Shoot with your weak hand • Reload in a flash • Handle a weapon malfunction • Develop a failsafe practice program

i have served in the United States Navy. Done Military Police training and work. I am now a Police Officer in Oklahoma. this book is identical to the training i recieved at the Oklahoma Police Accademy. with the focus on the same techniques and explinations. I cant say i learned anything new, but its a good book for me to have as a refresher so i dont forget what i have learned and been trained. Also it will help me when its time to teach my son.

The information in this book is very well laid out and is quite informative. It should please anyone who chooses to purchase it. I actually had trouble placing the book back on the end table. I'm a former machine gunner with very little experience handling pistols.

On a scale from 1-10, and 10 begin best I would have to rate this book as an 8 1/2. Reason behind this is if your are prior military like me or law enforcement you should have learned a majority of everything that is discussed in this book during training. This book would be great for any civilian gun owner who hasn't had any tactical training, but I would advise that a person receive hands on training prior to actually being invovlved in any type of physical confrontation. Well I hope this helps.
