Gun Digest® Book of Classic American Combat Rifles

In the Gun Digest® Book of Classic American Combat Rifles, Terry Wieland presents a unique compilation of articles on the greatest firearms developed since 1776, as they originally appeared in the magazine

Since its first issue in 1944, articles on the design, performance, technical significance and even the shortcomings, of combat rifles have made regular appearances in Gun Digest. Now, you can revisit the best of these articles, written by the most respected writers working in the field during the second half of the 20th century.

From models that made it to the top and stayed there—the Springfield, the M-14, the AR-15/M16—to those that slid into oblivion, here is a multifaceted look at the American combat rifle.

Great read
May 03, 2013

Many interesting read from Spencer rifle and carbine, Sharp , Mississippi rifle , arms of confederatcy etc. Articles are entertaining as well as informative. I was quite inspired by the book I wanted to purchase three band Enfield rifle musket but I don't have $800 so I have to contend with reading article about it for now . Please be aware that there is no article about M1 Garand which kind of strange but the editor explain the reason on the introduction page.
